Blyth (ongoing)

I’ve always wanted to try and show Blyth for what it really is, it deserves to be recognised for it’s fascinating past and bright future instead of the one-time ‘drugs capital of the north east’; just another northern ex pit town.

It’s got a huge history, the port of Blyth dates from the 12th century, since then it’s been known for it’s coal exports and ship building. Shockingly, almost nobody knows that a local man, William Smith, discovered Antarctica. As for the future, Blyth is a growing hub for renewable energy projects and testing, there’s so many windmills it’s great. A little bit of Get Carter was filmed here as well.
