Occupy London (Occupy Democracy) are holding a 10 day occupation of Parliament Square from the 1st – 10th of May, centred around the general election on the 7th.
“Occupy Gandhi (12pm) will be a peaceful direct action underneath the statue of Gandhi on Parliament Square calling for criminalisation of fossil fuel exploration and investment” –http://occupydemocracy.org.uk/programme-may-1-10/
This was the schedule for Monday the 4th. What started as a peaceful gathering as intended, was inexplicably disrupted by the (unnecessarily large amount of) police in attendance. The tent they surrounded was filled with a handful of people meditating, nothing else. They were dragged out and the tent ripped to pieces. It was weird, quite frankly, and served as a reminder of the current, far worse, issues with police brutality in the US.
